1964 Topps A Hard Day's Night Beatles Cards: Checklist and Values
Checklist of the 55-card 1964 Topps Beatles A Hard Day's Night movie set, with PSA guide values by grade, dealer asking ranges and one dated set sale.
Quick answer: Topps’ A Hard Day’s Night set has 55 black-and-white cards showing scenes and set photos from the Beatles’ first film (Topps Ripped, Apr 3, 2024; Dean’s Cards; both accessed 2026-10-07). Dean’s Cards calls it the last of the 1964 Topps Beatles sets. Topps’ own 2024 history, though, says the Diary set came out “before the year ended,” so the exact release order isn’t settled. PSA’s price guide lists commons at $4 in VG-EX 4 up to $80 in MT 9, with #1 and #55 higher (PSA, accessed 2026-10-07).
Dean’s Cards calls it scarcer than the other 1964 Topps Beatles sets, and Cardboard Connection says it is “not as plentiful.” We have not found print-run or population figures, so treat “scarcer” as dealer opinion.
For how this set fits with the B&W, Color, Diary and Plaks sets, see the 1964 Topps Beatles checklist and the collector’s guide.

How we built this list: we matched numbers and subjects across three independent lists: the PSA price guide, Hero Habit’s checklist (updated Sep 6, 2026) and Dean’s Cards, all accessed 2026-10-07. PSA and Hero Habit agree on all 55, and so does a fourth list on nslists. Dean’s had no listing for #31, #45 and #54 and uses a shorthand name on #25 and #28 that doesn’t match; the other two lists agree with each other on those cards. Hero Habit notes that the cards have no printed titles, so collectors name each card after the opening words of its caption. That’s why we use our own descriptions instead.
All three lists show 55 cards and no variations. One price aggregator shows a few extra entries for this set. We couldn’t tell what they are, so we don’t list them.
Values: PSA guide by grade
PSA’s guide values are PSA’s own estimates, not individual sales, and PSA doesn’t publish a date for each figure. Accessed 2026-10-07.
| Card | VG-EX 4 | EX 5 | EX-MT 6 | NM 7 | NM-MT 8 | MT 9 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Commons (#2–54) | $4 | $8 | $12 | $20 | $40 | $80 |
| #1 and #55 | $6 | $12 | $20 | $40 | $65 | $175 |
Source: PSA price guide. The guide lists no values above MT 9 for this set.
Why #1 and #55 might be higher: first and last cards in old sets often show more wear, so clean copies are harder to find. That is a general hobby pattern, not something PSA states for this set.
Dealer asking prices (not sales)
Dean’s Cards listed near-complete raw sets at $155 (VG/EX+ 4.5) to $405 (NM 7) on 2026-10-07. Single raw cards were listed from about $1.20 to $31.50, depending on card and condition (Dean’s Cards). These are one dealer’s asking prices, not sold prices.
One dated sale
At Hake’s, a complete 55-card set with wrapper, described as near mint to mint, sold for $189.75 including buyer’s premium on September 30, 2010 (Hake’s, accessed 2026-10-07). That is a single sale from 16 years ago, not a current value.
Current sold data: Not verified. We did not find a public archive of dated 2026 sales for this set. Check completed listings before buying or selling.
Collector tips
- Sort by set first. A Hard Day’s Night runs #1–55, overlapping the B&W (#1–60) and Color (#1–64) numbering. Movie stills mean this set.
- Check the ends. #1 and #55 are the cards most worth checking for condition.
- Store in standard sleeves and top-loaders. Cardboard Connection lists this set at 2½” × 3½” (unconfirmed: single source; we haven’t measured our own cards yet).
- Grading: with PSA’s guide at $20–$80 for commons in NM 7 to MT 9, a grading fee of $50 or more usually costs more than grading adds to a common. See should I grade my card?
