About Common to Grail
Common to Grail is an independent reference desk for collectors who want to understand what they own or want to buy. We explain what an item is and what drives its value, and we show how to check today’s prices, with every number sourced and dated. We’re not owned by a grader or a marketplace.
Trading cards come first: sports, Pokémon, entertainment and vintage non-sports. Comics, coins, video games and toys will follow.
What you’ll find here
- Checklists built from published sources and cross-checked. Where sources disagree, we show both claims.
- Identification and grading guides that explain the details collectors actually get stuck on.
- Value context: dated, sourced observations of real sales and listings. Never a made-up “value.”
- Stories about the strange history behind the cardboard.
How this site is made
We are a small operation and use software, including AI tools, heavily for research, drafting and data work. Every page is held to the same rules: facts need sources, prices need a source and a date, and anything we can’t verify is labelled as unknown or unverified. Read how we source values and our corrections policy.
What we won’t do
- Invent prices, sales, auction results or population reports.
- Call something rare, or say it will go up in value, without evidence.
- Use fake reviews, fake urgency or someone else’s photos without permission.
- Let affiliate relationships change what we write. See our affiliate disclosure.
Nothing on this site is financial or investment advice. Collectibles can lose value.
