Corrections policy
We’d rather be right than first. When we get something wrong, we fix it in the open.
How to report an error
Email our contact address (coming soon) with the page URL, what’s wrong, and a source if you have one, such as a link to a sale, a grader’s population report, a manufacturer checklist, or a photo of the card back. Every report is read.
What we do
- Acknowledge reports within 3 business days.
- Check the claim against primary or reliable sources.
- Fix confirmed errors promptly. For value or sales data, the incorrect figure is removed immediately while we check, if it might mislead buyers or sellers.
- Note the correction on the page.
How corrections are shown
- Factual corrections (names, dates, checklist numbers, print details, attributions, values, sales, population figures) get a dated note at the bottom of the page, e.g. “Correction, 2026-11-02: An earlier version listed this card as #41; it is #14. Thanks to a reader for the report.”
- Significant errors that changed the meaning of a page also get a note at the top.
- Routine updates (new sales observations, refreshed ranges, added variations) are recorded in the page’s “Last reviewed” date and change log. They aren’t labeled corrections.
- We don’t silently delete errors. If a whole page is withdrawn, its URL explains why.
Values and data specifically
- Every value figure shows its source and date. If we can’t re-verify a figure, we mark it “unverified” or remove it. We don’t guess.
- Population figures are always attributed to the grading company and dated. If one turns out to be wrong or stale, we correct it and link to the official report.
- If a sale we cited turns out to be cancelled, unpaid or misidentified, we remove it from the observed range and note the change.
Our process
Common to Grail uses AI tools heavily in research and drafting, and that’s no excuse for errors. Every published figure has to link to a source, and corrections are logged so we can find patterns and fix the process, not just the page.
